Small Nothing

Lay behind the drapes,
I’m wandering the white painted things,
And then friends holding hands,
Calling up to skyline planes, not moving
Gold light bugs, June blue eyes,
Some bend up, some look to the highway,
Swim above, crystal trees,
All in time, you see everything, still moving
Always you were meant to be in the broken beauty of the morning,
And maybe I was meant to be only one small nothing of your story
Days turn to weeks,
Walking over daylight dreams,
Then years turn to time,
Moving to the end of life
Stand up straight, fix your makeup,
Don’t be late, for your eight-hour work day,
Bruised and blue, those blue lips you keep moving
